Thoughts for the week
Love has always been my inspiration and the reason for my existence. Whether the love is between lovers, friends, families, or the love we give to and receive from animals, love moves me in a way that’s hard to explain. Love is in my core and deep within my soul. It motivates me to be a better person and gives me strength. I was contemplating on the idea of having been created in God’s image and thought that I can’t imagine being anything like God, but am humbled by the idea that God loved me so much that He created me in His image. So, I asked myself, “what characteristics do I possess that come from God?” “Is it my love for music?”
Just as love is in my soul, music is so embedded in my being that it accompanies me wherever I go. My brain is like a jukebox that never stops playing and I can’t imagine a life without it. I have heard music and tunes playing in my brain all of my life. There have been numerous occasions when I heard music that I have never heard before and thought that it was normal for everyone, but I have learned that it is not. I realize that my passion for music is my special connection with the Divine and it is God’s way of letting me know that He is with me always.
The music in my soul is God’s special gift to me. With that being said, if I am so passionate about love and music, and God made me in His image, then God must love music as well! Of course, there is no doubt that my passion for love and, the inspiration I receive from love, is from God because God is love and love is of God. Love is the characteristic that all of God’s creation, including you and I, have in common. As such, love inspires, motivates, heals and gives us strength. Love is our special connection with the Divine and the reason for our existence.
Let’s take a moment to think about the air we breathe each day. We can’t see it, but without it, we would cease to exist. What about all the beautiful things in nature—trees, plants, flowers and animals—as well as the sun, moon, stars, ocean and mountains? As you can see, it only takes a moment or two to realize that we are surrounded by so much life, love and beauty, and we are truly blessed.
If you have never read The Story of Creation (Genesis 1), I highly recommend that you do so. It is so inspirational and depicts how much love and care God put forth in creating the heavens and the earth, including all that surrounds us in the earth and humankind.
God is love and the source of all life. Love is of God and every living creature on this earth, including you and I, represent the great care and love that God put forth in all of His creation. As God completed each phase in the process, He paused, reviewed His work and saw that it was good.
How wonderful it must have felt to have that sense of accomplishment and being truly happy with one’s creation and work!
Thank you, God of all creation. You are the source of life, love and all my inspiration!
