Parish Update

Our church is participating in the A Rocha UK’s Eco-church scheme which encourages parishes and congregations to increase their awareness of green issues.

The organisation has devised eco-tips for each month of the year – below is an excerpt from the suggestions for September

“Green your home this Autumn. Tackle climate change and reduce your heating bill by testing how draughty or leaky your home is. Find the gaps that let the cold air in and warm air out (think keyholes, letterboxes, gaps around the edges or bottoms
of windows and doors, loft hatches, floorboards etc.) and fix these gaps”.

Thoughts on Romans 12 vs1-8 from.    and

“I urge you,” Paul said, “by the mercies of God . . . to present your bodies” (Rom. 12:1). When we recognize what God has done for us through his son Jesus Christ, the only response is to give ourselves completely to him. Jesus is the grace-giver.

Readers are called to live a countercultural lifestyle, moving from the life of flesh to a life formed by the Holy Spirit.

I heard someone one time say, “In Jesus' day, no one took up a cross who was not on his way to his own execution.” To offer our bodies as a living sacrifice is to make a daily decision that my desires must die so that I can be free to do with my body what God desires.
